Plymouth Historical Society Draft Minutes
August 12, 2017
Plymouth Historical Society Museum
Present: Dee Beckman, Joy Donnelly, Rhoda Moore, Betsy Tonkin, Midge Tucker
Call to order: 10:15
Purpose: The purpose of this meeting is to decide whether the historical society will continue with the offices of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, or whether an executive board or executive committee should be the governing body, to include the existing secretary and treasurer. Also, a contact person/chairman is needed for the state, Vermont Historical Society, etc. to provide a channel of communication. Midge is our agent with the state and the contact person for the school building. She also picks up the mail for PHS. If we do nothing else, we have an obligation to care for the collection in the museum. The Collection Committee could function as the executive committee, and this will include Rhoda, who will join the collection committee to help Barbara with archiving. Robert and Wyldon can also be asked for help.
Motion: Betsy Tonkin moved for a revision of the by-laws to state that the governing body of the Plymouth Historical Society be an executive committee composed of 4 people, 2 of whom will serve as secretary and/or treasurer, and one of the 4 will serve as the contact person/chair. The motion was seconded and the vote was unanimously in favor.
A notice of this change will be included in the November annual appeal with a copy of the proposed change.
Midge will carry on with the email list and our Facebook site. A reminder for 2018 dues will be sent in November with the annual appeal letter.
Meeting adjourned: 10:50 a.m.
Next quarterly meeting: October, 2017, date to be arranged.
Joy Donnelly, Secretary
