This section, located between Five Corners and the Plymouth Kingdom area, was basically a farming locality. It borders the west shore of now drained Reading Pond, a small portion of which is in Plymouth. The Slack District also felt the excitement of the short-lived gold rush days, as it is the site of the head waters of Reading and Buffalo brooks, scenes of gold mining activity in Plymouth. The school of District No. 2 is the only original building still standing here.
